Supartz (5×2.5ml)

Supartz® (hyaluronic acid; molecular weight 620-1170 kDa) is a sterile, viscoelastic, non-psychogenic solution indicated as a medical device for the treatment of pain in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee, which is based on a conservative non-psychogenicpharmacological therapy and simple analgesics have not sufficiently addressed.

Effectiveness

Intraarticular injections of Supartz® were significantly more effective than control injections. This resulted in an integrated longitudinal analysis of pooled data from five randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled, multicenter studies in patients with knee arthrosis. Supartz® significantly reduced the overall score of the Lesquésne index in the period after injection compared to control with phosphate-buffered saline. The data from the individual studies showed that the reduction of the overall Lesquésne index score was significantly greater in two of the five studies than in the control. According to another efficacy endpoint (the mean reduction of the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index), which was evaluated in only one of these studies, Supartz® was significantly more effective than the control group in reducing pain and stiffness subscale values.
