Synvisc consists of 3 pre-filled syringes of 2 ml each. The hyaluronic acid is cross-linked in order to optimally reproduce the properties of healthy, human synovial fluid. Synvisc has shock-absorbing and lubricating properties and remains in the joint longer than conventional non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid. It stimulates the body’s own hyaluronic acid production sustainably, so that the joints are able to protect themselves again after a treatment.
